The Tales of Beedle the Bard

And as for this book,'' said Hermione, The Tales of Beedle the Bard... I’ve never even heard of them!''
''You’ve never heard of The Tales of Beedle the Bard?'' said Ron incredulously. ''You''re kidding, right?''
(Taken from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)
Bloomsbury, in association with the Children''s High Level Group, is delighted to announce The Tales of Beedle the Bard, the first new book from J. K. Rowling since the publication of the final book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The Tales of Beedle the Bard, played a crucial role in assisting Harry, aided by his friends Ron and Hermione, to finally defeat Lord Voldemort. Fans will be thrilled to have this opportunity to read the tales in full.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard is without doubt an exciting addition to the canon of Harry Potter. They also reveal the wonderful versatility of the author, as she tackles with relish the structure and varying tones of a classic fairy tale. There are five tales included in the book: ''The Tale of the Three Brothers'', which is recounted in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; plus four more — ''The Fountain of Fair Fortune'', ''The Warlock''s Hairy Heart'', ''The Wizard and the Hopping Pot'', and ''Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump''. Each tale has its own magical character and will variously bring delight, laughter and the thrill of mortal peril.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard, translated from the original runes by Hermione Granger, is introduced and illustrated by J. K. Rowling. Also included are notes on the stories by Professor Albus Dumbledore, which appear by generous permission of the Hogwarts Headmasters'' Archive.

The Book of a Thousand Days

Shannon Hale's mother says she was a storyteller from birth, jabbering endlessly in nonsensical baby-talk. Once she could speak, she made up stories and bribed younger siblings to perform them in mini-plays until, thankfully, an elementary school teacher introduced her to the wonder of written fiction.

At the age of 10, she began to write books, mostly fantasy stories where she was the heroine. She continued to write secretly for years while pursuing acting in television, stage, and improvised comedy. After detours studying in Mexico, the UK, and a year and a half as an unpaid missionary in Paraguay, Shannon earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah. She was finally forced out of the writers' closet when she received her Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Montana.
Currently Shannon and her husband live in Salt Lake City, Utah .

A masterful, suspenseful story, revealed through the diary of a princess’s maid, as she and her princess face the wrath of an evil prince – and we are introduced to the most wonderfully modern heroine

When a beautiful princess refuses to marry the prince her father has chosen, her father is furious and locks her in a tower. She has seven long years of solitude to think about her insolence. But the princess is not entirely alone – she has her maid, Dashti. Petulant and spoilt, the princess eats the food in their meagre store as if she were still at court, and Dashti soon realises they must either escape or slowly starve. But during their captivity, resourceful Dashti discovers that there is something far more sinister behind her princess''s fears of marrying the prince, and when they do break free from the tower, they find a land laid to waste and the kingdom destroyed. They were safe in the tower, now they are at the mercy of the evil prince with a terrible secret.

Thrilling, captivating, and a masterful example of storytelling at its best. The princess’s maid is a feisty and thoroughly modern heroine, in this wonderfully timeless story.
